Branches

We have identified a number of "branches" of the family tree(s); in fact some of these branches are probably large enough to be referred to as a tree in their own right. For convenience we have tended to refer to the main branches by reference to the location of the earlier known ancestor. However, during the course of our research over recent years we have been able to link many of the smaller branches with others to create larger branches/trees. This means that the earliest known ancestors can change and branches can be subsumed within others. Consequently you may find references in the journal to branches that do not appear in the latest list; in order to help place where branches have been subsumed by others you should see the branch locator.

What follows is our latest view of the key branches; these provide a convenient means by which to classify other material, such as articles in the journal, for easier navigation. Note that in some cases we have maintained a separate branch classification (e.g. Storrington) even though it has been linked in another branch (e.g. Nuthurst). This keeps each branch down to a manageable size.
